I live near your retail shop, can I collect?
Absolutely! You can either choose click and collect at checkout and we will email you as soon as your order is ready, or you can simply pop in and see us!
We do, however, recommend if you are wanting any of our small candle sets, to order these online in advance for collection as we tend to keep our large tins in stock in the shop, rather than our smaller ones.

Candle Care
TLC for your Wood Wick Candles
Just like anything in nature, wood wicks can be tempermental and each one unique. All of our wood wicks are made with a natural wood and can vary in the wood thickness and grain. This will cause every Reading Room Candle to burn a little bit differently.
We always recommend to ensure that your first burn is always to a full melt pool (wax melted to the edge of the tin).
Container candles have a ‘memory’ and if you d on’t allow your candle to burn to the jar’s edge on the first burn, every subsequent burn will see the melted wax pool ‘tunnel’ down the wick rather than burn evenly out to the tin's edge. Your wick will eventually drown in wax and will not stay lit.

Why won't my wood wick candle light?
If your candle extinguishes the first time you light it, simply try relighting it until it catches (Sometimes it may take multiple lights).
Other tips:
Always trim your wick! Wood wicks need to be short. Trim all of the burnt pieces off. Old nail clippers work the best for this!
For relighting, tip the candle, and relight on an angle. This will allow the flame to slowly reach across the wick.
It is easier to use a click-lighter and burn the wick allowing a little pool of wax to melt at the base of the wick, extinguish flame and allow to cool off for a minute or so. Use a paper towel or napkin & absorb excess wax on and around the wick. Discard tissue. Wait another minute and then relight candle

Why is my candle funnelling and how can I fix it?
Do not try chipping away extra wax to fix the tunneling. If you allow your candle to burn for longer periods of time, this problem should fix itself.
Does the melted wax pool extend right to the tin edge or is there a build up of hard wax around the edge of your tin?
When burning your candle, does the melted wax seem to tunnel down the wick rather than melt evenly out to tin's edge?
The main reason a wick won’t stay lit or begins to funnel is because the candle was not burnt correctly on the first burn.
Please see my other FAQ's for some super candle care tips to avoid this happening!
